A Field Trip to the Museum of Life and Science

The Museum of Life and Science is a huge educational museum in Durham, NC. It has wolves, lemurs, bears, an insect house, treehouses, mist, and so much more. For school, my grade got to go! We split up into our advisories and made our own plans for the day.
My advisory first started with the insect house. There are two parts there, one has beetles, spiders, and other insects, while the other part is a butterfly house. The insect house was so cool, there were tarantulas, huge beetles, a beehive, and so much more! In the butterfly house, 7 butterflies landed on me and I saw at least 5 different species. After that, we had an animal presentation where a zoologist showed us a few different animals. We got to touch a snake, ferret, and bearded dragon lizard. The lizard was really cool because it had rough skin and didn’t move a lot while the ferret was squirming the whole time. Next was lunch which was basically a normal lunch just not at school.
In the afternoon, we went on an animal walk. I saw bears, coyotes, lemurs, and geese (who weren’t part of the tour). In the photo above, the coyote is blending in. Second to last, we did some water activities. First, we used mini sailboats and tried to run into each other without stopping. After, we went into the mist which was perfect because it was a hot day. We ended with the best activities, Hideaway Woods. Hideaway Woods is a bunch of huge interconnected treehouses that are perfect for tag and hide and seek. During both of those games, I hid under the treehouse and nobody found me. I would really recommend going!
